Meet the people behind our ministry

Pastor Kevin Redig

Pastor Kevin does not have the typical pastor’s resume. He graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and retired to Tucson after a career as an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard. In Tucson, he spent 16 years as a full-time faculty member at Pima Community College, the last six years of which were bi-vocational as he was also the Associate Pastor at Vistoso Community Church.

Despite this unusual background, God has had his hand on Kevin’s development and was preparing him for his current role as VCC’s pastor. There were many years of academic study eventually leading to an advanced seminary degree. More importantly, there were the years of daily study under a variety of godly pastors, who, recognizing the potential for ministry, mentored him and provided opportunities to teach and preach.

As Scripture says: “For everything there is a season ….” Making the transition to full-time ministry, now more than ten years ago, began a season of feeding and caring for the sheep at VCC, and Kevin would tell you that is right where the Lord wants him to be!

Pastor Dan Klender

In the past four decades, Pastor Dan toiled in a diversity of fields in Christ’s vineyard including fourteen years as a pastor, several years spent in youth, college/singles ministry, teaching, prison ministry, and Navy Chaplaincy.  For twenty-two years Dan served as an unconventional military chaplain seeking to bring biblical truth and gospel light to our nation’s heroes and their families.

Dan’s seasoned experience is rare for an Associate Pastor. An Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran, Dan has taught God’s Word in a variety of cultural venues. His passion for discipleship coupled with his aspiration to be a “son of Issachar,” has led him to write books on both biblical and cultural topics.

Reared in an unchurched family, Dan heard the gospel preached as a child by an evangelist at the age of seven.  Utterly convinced by the Spirit of God that he was a sinner in need of a Savior, Dan placed his faith in Jesus Christ, the One who died for him and rose again, and was gloriously converted. Subsequently, he felt the shepherd’s call to tend His flock at the age of 12. Today Dan aspires to steward God’s marvelous grace to all he encounters at Vistoso and beyond.
